Killing Music provides musical direction for artists and live projects, helping translate an artist’s music and identity into a cohesive and engaging live performance. The focus is on the bigger musical picture - how the show should feel, how it should flow and what is needed to make the artist perform at their best.

The process can include building and developing setlists, choosing the right songs and arrangements for a particular performance, defining the live band setup and putting together the right musicians and creative team around the artist. From an intimate session to an awards show or full live set, each format requires a different approach to pacing, dynamics and presentation.

​

With a background as both a performer and artist manager, Grettel approaches musical direction from multiple perspectives - balancing the artist’s creative identity with the audience experience and the wider purpose of the performance. This can mean rethinking an existing song for a particular stage, developing transitions and the overall arc of a set, expanding a recorded track into a full-band arrangement or finding a live format that can grow alongside the artist’s career.
